Psychological Services For Children

At CARE Psychology, we tailor our treatment plans to meet the needs of each individual child. Together, we will work through an intake assessment and depending on what they need, we will use a number of counselling methods and approaches to provide a truly customized experience. This approach may involve a single modality, such as Play Therapy or EMDR, or a combination of integrative treatments.

It is important to us that we develop a treatment plan that not only fits the needs of the family but of the child as well so that they can receive the help they need to truly thrive. There are no cookie cutter kids so there shouldn’t be a cookie cutter approach to therapy.

Individual Counselling & Therapy

As each child differs, we will apply appropriate psychological theories and approaches that are tailored to the child and their specific goals for therapy.

Play Therapy

Sometimes it can be difficult for children to fully express themselves through words. Play and expressive therapy can help children to express their perspective, feelings, and emotions.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative therapy approach that’s based on the understandings of the brain and how memory networks function. EMDR therapy can help children understand how the past influences the present, heal from their past trauma, and allow them to move forward.

Family Counselling & Therapy

Sometimes, the best way to help your child is to engage in family or parent-child counselling. Family therapy aims to help your family work together through any challenges you may be facing.

Psychological Assessment

A psychological assessment provides information to develop a better understanding of your child’s strengths, needs, and areas for growth. Through this process, appropriate recommendations and strategies are provided so that you can capitalize on your child’s strengths, help them grow, and inform intervention.
